Time to cast your lots! Who & what is your OSCAR bet?
Indeed, 2012 was a year of great films! If not, then we will not have much trouble choosing the Academy’s, eh? But it’s just alot of super amazing, award-winning & note-worthy films were released last year. I have no idea where in the world did those creative bunch of brilliant artists were born, but one thing I know: this will be a TOUGH CALL.
The FILMS above are all nominated for this year’s OSCAR. And I’ve watched all of it except for
Life of Pi & Beasts of the Southern Wild. I personally have alot of biases in life, but I tell you with this kind of line up, I AM TROUBLED & CONFUSED at the same time.
I mean, I would very much want Bradley Cooper [Silver Lining’s Playbook] to win a Best Actor because I’m crazy in love with his blue eyes, but at the same time I want Daniel Day-Lewis [Lincoln] to have it because he does look like the late president both in appearance, speech and action. And of course, who could miss Hugh Jackman? He deserves an Oscar for his very hard & voice cracking role as Jean Valjean in Les Mis. How about Mr. ARGO Ben Affleck? He did not deserve the OSCAR snub. Give him credited for being the lead & the director (at the same time) of ARGO.
That’s not our only problem here, my friend. We have the BEST PICTURE category. I mean, this is the biggest problem, it’s the highest honor in the Academy. Like THE biggest. I’ll name my favorites: ARGO, ZERO DARK THIRTY, LINCOLN, LES MIS & SILVER LINING’S PLAYBOOK (
Not so much with Amour & Django), I rate them all as equal, I love them all. Haaay, can’t wait for my raging nerves this 85th Academy Awards.
ARGO - the fake movie was made into a real one, with an Academy Award nomination bonus plus the making of the great escape of hostages, top it up with Ben Affleck & George Clooney as Director & Producer.
ZERO DARK THIRTY - hands down to Golden Globes Best Actress, Jessica Chastain for playing a pivotal role as the CIA agent responsible for a decade of man-hunt of the world’s greatest terrorist Osama Bin Laden.
LINCOLN - a Christian president who want nothing but freedom, balance & equality, wrote and passed the 13th Amendment (freedom of slaves), an honorable man & a good leader, was assassinated but liberated a nation and that’s why until today he is one of the 3 greatest presidents of America.
LES MISERABLES - French revolution, a Victor Hugo masterpiece played by a very powerful cast ensemble [mostly cartoon & fictional character]: Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Gladiator/Robin Hood (Russel Crowe), Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), Bellatrix Lestrange/Red Queen (Helena Carter), Borat/The Dictator (Sacha Baron Cohen) & Red Riding Hood (Amanda Seyfried)! HAHAHA!
SILVER LINING’S PLAYBOOK - Bradley Cooper. Period. Bwahahahaha!
I’ll tune in for the results, and of course—the DRESSES. Hahaha!
PS: To you, yes you! Understand that the exaggerated & exasperated writer of this blog
(who is not a real writer actually, not even a good & creative one. HAHAHA. JK, of course not), is an aspiring producer & director :)
“A Woman’s Question
Do you know you have asked for the costliest thing
Ever made by the Hand above?
A woman’s heart, and a woman’s life—-
And a woman’s wonderful love.
Do you know you have asked for this priceless thing
As a child might ask for a toy?
Demanding what others have died to win,
With a reckless dash of boy.
You have written my lesson of duty out,
Manlike, you have questioned me.
Now stand at the bars of my woman’s soul
Until I shall question thee.
You require your mutton shall always be hot,
Your socks and your shirt be whole;
I require your heart be true as God’s stars
And as pure as His heaven your soul.
You require a cook for your mutton and beef,
I require a far greater thing;
A seamstress you’re wanting for socks and shirts—-
I look for a man and a king.
A king for the beautiful realm called Home,
And a man that his Maker, God,
Shall look upon as He did on the first
And say: “It is very good.”
I am fair and young, but the rose may fade
From this soft young cheek one day;
Will you love me then ‘mid the falling leaves,
As you did ‘mong the blossoms of May?
Is your heart an ocean so strong and true,
I may launch my all on its tide?
A loving woman finds heaven or hell
On the day she is made a bride.
I require all things that are grand and true,
All things that a man should be;
If you give this all, I would stake my life
To be all you demand of me.
If you cannot be this, a laundress and cook
You can hire and little to pay;
But a woman’s heart and a woman’s life
Are not to be won that way.”
JOSHUA HARRIS, I Kissed Dating Goodbye :)
“Just because lips have met doesn’t mean hearts have joined. And just because two bodies are drawn to each other doesn’t mean two people are right for each other. A physical relationship doesn’t equal love.”
Joshua Harris, I Kissed Dating Goodbye.
Enjoyed compiling this entry :) In between my 21-day FAST journey, i took photos of my everyday whereabouts, howabouts, doabouts and eatabouts! HAHAHA!
I was very OC with this so i categorized it for easy viewing. Flash back to January 7 starts in..
- I was assigned to speak that week in our Midweek Service in Iloilo. After the service we drove around the city and watched the Fireworks Display (in time for Dinagyang Festival season), then headed off to Smallville for some milktea & Floyd’s BBQ!
- This is the first movie I saw on the bigscreen this year :) It was a birthday blowout by my tita! And overall Victor Hugo did not fail me but gave me incredible tears for many years that I haven’t cried in the cinema.
-The number 1 reason why I came, is because of this super-amazing, super-cool, super-smart, super-liberal, super-principled and super-brave girl. This is Patricia Evangelista, and I am her number 1 fan! Hahaha! I’ve seen this galpal while growing up and I have admired her since then. You will know why when you meet and hear her speak.
-My second fave is Maria Ressa! Former CNN Correspondent & ABS-CBN News Head, and now the CEO of Rappler. Her favorite topic? TERRORISM!
-Atty. Batapa, is a city councilor in Bacolod and also a brilliant girl. She spoke about the political dynasty in Negros and even had some statistics and chronological order of different officials related to each other in Negros.
-Chay Hofilena spoke about Election culture & also showed statistics of election violence.
-Ayee Macaraig + Voltaire
-After the Rappler event I immedietely headed to the hospital for my tita’s birthday celebration! Thou, she was sick, it didn’t stopped her admirer to send her gifts & goodies! It was pretty awesome cause she received 6 cakes (including a Newton Shoes foundant), 3 flowers & balloons.
-This was the surprise Farewell Party of PC before he left for Saudi :) It was an epic night indeed from the planning to all the schemes we could think of, it was all worth it. We had a little program for him and we also prayed for him.
-Spoke in FUSION San Agustin about “THE WORDS”, i just watched the movie at that time so I changed the title of my topic to that. Hehe. I also spoke the same topic in Iloilo Midweek Service & FUSION CHMSC
-SOL 1 Batch 6 Exam! Proctoring again.
All pictures were taken by my awesome 10000 megapixel camera. HAHAHA.
DAY 21—We have overcome! Hallelujah!
We have overcome! Hallelujah! He gives us VICTORY and we are more than CONQUERORS!!!
21 Amazing days of FASTING :) God is amazing and awesome as usual :)
After we FAST, we FEAST!!
DAY 20—Don’t wanna go back Lord to the way I used to be before You rescued me, FIRE BURNS
And this is the song of my life :) This has been a constant reminder to me, that every time I try to look back, God tries to remind me of also of His grace that is enough for me.
This has been my declaration for many years, and will still be to the coming years and even till the end of my life. Thank you, Lord.
FIRE BURNS, Jon Owens
Don’t wanna go back Lord
To the way I used to live
The way I used to live
I won’t go back Lord
To the way I used to be
Before you rescued me
I will not stop
Til’ every tribe and nation
Bows before You
I will not stop
Til’ they all see your glory
Your Fire Burns within me
Burn within me with your fire
Lift up your eyes to see
The glory of the Lord is on the earth
Arise.. Arise.. Arise..
Arise generation no longer forsaken
Arise, Arise, Arise
DAY 19—No more running wild I’m Yours for life, TODAY
This is my second life song :) I love love love this song, it ministered to me alot. First heard it in a conference in Singapore.
TODAY, C3 Church
I’m leaving all my troubles behind
I’m letting go I’ll follow the line
Holding on with all of my life
I see Your rising Son
We’ve only just begun
I’m walking to the beat of Your heart
You take me all the way to the start
Stretch Your hand straighten the path
I’m found in open skies
Your heart it lives in mine
I’m finding my first love again
I’m learning how to let You in
Trusting You with all that I am
The shadows fade away
It’s You that clears the day
No more running wild
I’m Yours for life
You got me here
You got me
I hear Your call tonight
Your heart is mine
You got me here
You got me
You drew me out of the deepest sea, woah!
You gave my soul a song to sing, woah!
DAY 18—For God and country, ZERO DARK THIRTY
Thoughts of a HERO :) Amazing movie! A must-see! A little nerve-wrecking but still awesome.
DAY 17—Be more than just a Sunday Christian, Jentezen Franklin
That’s why being ‘Born Again’ is not about changing your
religion or denomination or whatever, but being Born Again is an experience and it is a relationship.
And a relationship needs to be cultivated, protected and it needs to grow deeper and deeper every single day :)
Don’t be a SUNDAY CHRISTIAN :) Walk with Him everyday! Love and serve Him for the rest of your life :)
DAY 16—For such a time as this, Abraham Lincoln (Lincoln)
This line reminds me of Queen Esther, and how she was called at the time of her reign as Queen to spare the people of Israel.
Just like Abraham Lincoln, he used his position as President, not just to lead and serve his fellowmen but to free slaves as well. Yes, he was assassinated, but he fulfilled his life’s greatest calling: LIBERATION :)
That’s why God has a reason, why you and I, my friend was not born in the 1800s or the Jazz Age or the World War period or the time of Jesus. He called us in this time, and the time is NOW.
